Mike is a Managing Director in the Multistate Tax Practice of Deloitte Tax LLP. For the 5 years before joining Deloitte Mike was the Director of the New Jersey Division of Taxation. Mike carries strong credentials with respect to state policy considerations and audit defense, and has deep relationships with other tax administrators. Prior to his leadership role with the state of New Jersey, Mike spent 16 years overseeing all federal, international and state controversy matters for a large publicly traded media company in Philadelphia.

 

 

 

 

Mitchell A. Drossman, National director of wealth planning strategy, US Trust

Mitchell is managing director and the national director of wealth planning strategy at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management.  In this role, Mitchell manages and leads the National Wealth Planning Strategies Group to provide objective insight to help clients align their financial and estate strategies with their goals by integrating the full capabilities of our investment and financial planning services and by utilizing the broad range of Bank of America affiliates.  Mitchell works with individuals, families, closely-held family businesses, family offices and institutions in conjunction with their tax and legal advisors to facilitate wealth transfer, business succession (pre- and post-liquidity event strategies), wealth structuring and estate planning needs that are often complex requiring customized analysis and strategies.

 

 

Lisa Hastings, CPA & Managing Partner, Faw Casson

As a CPA and Managing Partner of Faw Casson, Lisa primarily works with larger privately-owned companies, the owners and their families, specializing in business and tax consulting, estates and trusts. She also originated and developed the employee benefit plan audit niche within the Firm. She is a graduate of the University of Delaware and currently she serves on the Executive Committee of AGN North America, the Greater Kent Committee and the Legislative Committee of the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce.

 

 

 

 

Ken Lewis, Professor of Economics at University of Delaware

Kenneth Lewis is a Chaplin Tyler Professor of Economics at the Alfred Lerner College of Business & Economics at University of Delaware.  Professor Lewis has a Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University and a B.A. in economics from Amherst College, where he graduated Cum Laude. He was awarded the Outstanding Service Award, College of Business and Economics by the University of Delaware, and was awarded with the Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher Award in the College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware on five occasions.  Ken has been featured in numerous publications including; Business Economics, Journal of Policy Modeling, Public Finance Review, and Eastern Economic Journal.

 

 

Valarie Middlebrooks, CPA, Principal Tax & Small Business, Belfint, Lyons, Shuman

Valerie joined the Belfint Lyons Shuman in 2005 and then again in 2017 after working for a Top 100 firm in Bethesda, Maryland and a local firm in Delaware. A tax generalist with a strong knowledge base in providing compliance and advisory services to her clients, Valerie works closely with the many experts within the firm to address her clients’ varied circumstances. Valerie’s experience includes working with large privately-held companies, nonprofits, small businesses, high net worth families, and international businesses (and individuals), and has extensive knowledge leading an engagement team acting as a back office tax department for a global manufacturer. Her widespread background provides a wealth of insight and expertise for the many issues her clients may face.

Allan Loudell, Anchor, WDEL

Allan has taught broadcast newswriting at The University of Delaware. He has served in various leadership positions at Delaware Press Association, including Vice-President for Programs, and Parliamentarian; a Board member of The Society of Professional Journalists, Philadelphia chapter; and Past President of the Corporate Board, The Delaware Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership.  Allan has been on-the-air, more or less continuously, since the age of thirteen! He has been on-the-air in the Wilmington market since 1987, and joined WDEL / Delmarva Broadcasting Company in September 2005.
