AGE: 39
TITLE: President
COMPANY: Corrado Construction Co.
CITY: New Castle

What the nominator said: “Joey Corrado is a third-generation construction business owner who strives to continue his family’s reputation and tradition in the community. He has built strong relationships with his employees and clients in the community, and co-founded the First State Skilled Field Training to help battle the shrinking number of skilled laborers and operators in Delaware.”

Your biggest break: Getting accepted into the Construction Science and Management Program at Clemson University. It allowed me not only to get a great education, but broaden my life experiences, which are still valuable in my life today.

Best career advice you ever got: If you make a mistake, own up to it, fix it, and don’t make it again.

Two words that best describe you: Driven and loyal.

Work/life balance technique you recommend: Scheduling and prioritizing as much as possible in advance for both personal and work appointments. Personally, this allows me to make sure I’m there during important times with my family.

If you were in charge of Delaware: I would amend the Coastal Zone Act by allowing the redevelopment of existing industrial sites. It would create jobs that this state so desperately needs and clean up the abandoned sites.

In one sentence, define “success.” Work hard, respect others, be accountable, and maintain your integrity.
