The Delaware Prosperity Partnership
The Delaware Prosperity Partnership (DPP) is a public-private partnership created in 2017 to lead the state’s economic development efforts. Its mission is to both attract new businesses to the state and engage existing businesses as they make plans for expansion.
According to president and CEO Kurt Foreman, “The DPP will help convene and support efforts to build a stronger entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem and assist employers and various partners working to identify and develop the talent Delaware will need to succeed over the long term.”
One important aspect of the DPP’s work will be to educate out-of-state businesses and key influencers about all that Delaware has to offer, “starting with our excellent location on the East Coast, access to inter-modal transportation, available sites, competitive taxes, a talented workforce, and a supportive business community and government,” says Foreman.
While the DPP is still primarily focused on getting established and developing its strategic plan, it already has some successes to its name. The organization “has assisted a number of companies with setting up operations in Delaware,” says Foreman. “One technology company chose to expand its operations in the state, investing millions in new facilities and more than 60 new employees. Several other projects are in the works, with decisions pending.”
As the DPP continues to rev up, it will proactively market the state to both external and internal audiences, while conducting economic research to understand current and future opportunities.
