Xavier Teixido, owner of Harry’s Hospitality Group, took home the 2017 Ambassador of Hospitality Award last week. The award is given by the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation and honors achievement and leadership in the restaurant industry.
Teixido, who started cooking professionally in his teens, owns a string of high-end restaurants in the region, including Harry’s Savoy Grill and Harry’s Seafood Grill.
He was involved in developing NRAEF’s ProStart program, a competition for high school students interested in the culinary arts.
He has also organized the annual Delaware Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation dinner for the past 26 years, raising more than $1 million.
