That compares with 3,756 in the retail sector, the second-largest employer of 16- to 24-year-olds in July.

Most of the hospitality works were white — 4,072. The second-largest group of hospitality workers were Hispanic — 1,104. In addition, there were 638 black workers and 138 Asians.

The same was true for the retail industry, with 2,871 white workers, 500 black workers, 781 Hispanic workers and 173 Asian workers.
