Tom Sager receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Tom Sager

Tom Sager

Tom Sager, a Ballard Spahr partner and former General Counsel of DuPont Co., received the Louis L. Redding Lifetime Achievement Honorarium from the Delaware Barristers Association.

The award recognizes Sager’s dedication to diversity in the legal profession and it is given annually to “an individual who has made a lifelong commitment to eradicating racism “¦ in academia and in the legal profession” and who has “triumphed in making the business case for diversity.”

Before joining Ballard Spahr last September, Mr. Sager spent nearly four decades with DuPont Co., where he finished his tenure as General Counsel. He helped pioneer the DuPont Legal Model, which redefined the way law firms measure success-with diversity as one of the key metrics. Under the model, firms that wanted a share of DuPont’s work had to demonstrate a commitment to advancing diversity.

Mr. Sager also helped to found the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA).

The Delaware Barristers Association is a local affiliate of the National Bar Association, founded in 1993. It was created to foster community among Delaware legal professionals, to uphold the principles of justice by fighting discrimination, and to encourage the full participation of all members of the Delaware legal community.
