{OpenBracket Delaware to welcome biggest names in coding

WILMINGTON — A heated world-class, two-phase code competition with more than $50,000 in prizes in total at stake, {OpenBracket Delaware presented with title sponsor Chatham Financial, comes to a boil this weekend for the finals on Sat., Nov. 5.

The event is hosted in partnership with Technical.ly, the network of local tech news sites, and features two phases:

The national online trials took place on Oct. 15, 2016 on HackerRank.com the global leader in online code assessments. Over 7,000 people attempted the assessment, only 3,000 qualified to continue and only 150 competitors will make it to the finals. Travel stipends for qualified online finalists were distributed to applicants traveling from out of state.

The finals, Sat. Nov. 5, are a full day of competitive coding live in Wilmington, hosted in partnership with Technical.ly, the network of local tech news sites. One team or individual will earn $5k & $15k cash prizes.

The full schedule includes:

Friday, Nov. 4 from 5-7 p.m.: The Delaware community will welcome some of the biggest names in coding from all over the country to the smallest state at The inaugural {OpenBracket Kickoff Reception at The Grand. The problem sets or challenges, get unveiled for the first time, competitors meet face-to-face and form teams or choose to go at the challenge alone.

Saturday, Nov. 5 from 6-12 p.m.: Downtown Market Street will be shut down for the open-air after party. Enjoy the beer garden, gastro-comfort food, live bands, light show, and talk with potential employers.

Sunday,  Nov. 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Over $20k will be awarded to the top coders of the two-day coding competition at the awards ceremony and brunch.

{OpenBracket is a part of a growing effort to celebrate Wilmington and its tech community and will be one of the largest coding championships in the United States.
