State Supreme Court halts Felton racetrack

After an extended legal battle, the Silo Speeway is dead in its tracks. The Delaware Supreme Court affirmed a lower court order that upheld the plaintiff’s claim that the track was not allowed under the Kent County Code.

The case stemmed from a lawsuit by Pete Pizzadili, the owner of a nearby winery and vineyard.

The quarter-mile, oval-shaped track would have been situated just off U.S. 13. The Town of Felton has a strong auto-culture, as Delaware Business Times reporter last week, but even so there was disagreement about whether the track was an appropriate addition to the community.
