Wilmington, Del. — Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing network, and the City of Wilmington have partnered to officially launch Zipcar in the city. Eight Zipcars are now available in Wilmington for reservation by the hour or by the day, according to Mayor Dennis William’s office.

Zipcar offers more than 50 makes and models of self-service vehicles by the hour or day to residents and businesses looking for convenient solutions to their urban and campus transportation needs, according to officials.
The company is a subsidiary of Avis Budget Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: CAR), a global leader in vehicle rental services.
According Downtown Visions Executive Director Martin Hageman, the use of Zipcar could change will offer residents and entrepreneurs in the city an affordable transportation option.
“For a resident, having Zipcar available means that for just a few dollars, they can get a car, run some errands, return the car, and get on with their lives,” said Hageman.
He added that entrepreneurs can have access to a Zipcar to conduct crucial meetings or make connections without worry of a monthly car payment.
“The addition of Zipcar to our city is another significant step in making our city an attractive place for entrepreneurs, business leaders, artists, and others who are looking for a great place to live, work, and play,” said Hageman.
