Dover, Del. — The Delaware Economic Development Office (DEDO) has announced a partnership with One Million by One Million1M/1M), a global virtual accelerator. 1M/1M aims to nurture a million entrepreneurs to reach a million dollars each in annual revenue and beyond to create a trillion dollars in global GDP and ten million jobs.

DEDO and 1M/1M will provide wider resources and deeper support to the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Delaware. The program offers entrepreneurs virtual incubator resources including educational, business development and weekly strategy discussions led by technology business writer and strategist, Sramana Mitra.

“Investing in Delaware entrepreneurs is an investment in our state’s future,” said DEDO Director Bernice Whaley. “Gaining access to Ms. Mitra’s knowledge and her vast business network is a great opportunity for local entrepreneurs. Today’s successful entrepreneurs build sustainable businesses by creating the jobs of tomorrow.”

As part of this partnership, DEDO will utilize funds designated for entrepreneurial initiatives to cover the $1,000 premium membership fee for 10 Delaware-based entrepreneurs.

“We envision Delaware entrepreneurs leveraging the 1M/1M program and dramatically enhancing their knowledge and understanding of early stage entrepreneurship, to build successful, viable companies,” explains Mitra, founder of 1M/1M.  “Our partnership with the DEDO is focused on giving scale and leverage to the entrepreneurship eco-system in Delaware.”

A selection committee will review all submitted applications on a quarterly basis. This rolling selection process will continue until 10 entrepreneurs have been selected for the program. Those selected will be required to invest at least 50-100 hours on the core curriculum and one project-specific elective.
