Your biggest break: I had a great mentor early in my career that was nearing retirement and went out of her way to teach me to succeed her with her clients who were small business owners.

Best career advice you ever got: I was told if I was your age and knew what I know now I would not be here to meet you. So I said, well I am that age so tell me what I need to do so I am not here when I am your age. He did and I took it.

How you give back: I have been and continue to be very active on multiple not-for-profit boards. I also volunteer at several bank events in the community and I coach my children’s sports teams.

Your biggest challenge: Trying to move too fast. The banking industry has changed and the regulatory burden has slowed things down, and I struggle with the slower pace.

Networking group you use the most: The Commercial Industrial Realty Council (CIRC).

Work-life balance technique you recommend: I struggle with this, but it’s one of the reasons I coach my kids. I figure the coach has to be there, so I cannot find a reason to let work get in the way of the practices and games.
