What began as a dorm-room endeavor at the University of Delaware in 2012 has evolved into a full-time business for Mac Nagaswami, CEO and founder of Carvertise. The company, which wraps passenger cars in advertising on behalf of brand clients, so that the vehicles act like mobile billboards that the drivers can use to generate additional income. This multimillion- dollar establishment is currently running campaigns across 30 cities in the United States and includes nationally recognized brands like Buffalo Wild Wings, Lyft, Discover and Empire Today. Nagaswami has built his company to hire 12 full-time employees, work with 275,000 drivers, and pay more than $1.2 million in just over five years.
As a startup owner himself, Nagaswami finds himself interested in helping other young entrepreneurs on their way to success, and so he sits on the board of directors for TeenSHARP, a successful nonprofit startup that helps empower disadvantaged minority youth in Wilmington to get into the nation’s most prestigious universities. Nagaswami is also an active member of the Delaware State Chamber’s board of directors, where his fiduciary responsibility is to oversee the chamber’s strategic direction and ensure the correct economic policies are being defended and promoted to bring growth to Delaware.
