Workplace: Bellefonte Brewing Co./ The Dirt Squad
Neil Shea doesn’t wear white, and he doesn’t spend hours sitting at his desk. He runs both Dirt Squad, a residential and commercial cleaning company, and Bellefonte Brewery outside of Wilmington. In just a few years, both businesses have grown exponentially, and Shea credits his background in the U.S. Marine Corps for their success. The Dirt Squad handles projects as small as single apartments to as large as 100,000-square-foot office spaces, and the brewery recently took second place at the World Beer Cup for their porter.
And since everyone loves free cleaning and free beer, Shea is able to help lots of local charities and those less fortunate by donating his services and suds. In particular, Dirt Squad offers free cleaning services to women battling cancer through an organization called “Cleaning for a Reason,” which helps raise money for the 03XX Foundation, a mentorship program for sailors and marines. Bellefonte Brewery also makes specialty beer for the Friends of Wilmington Parks for the Brandywine Zoo (appropriately called “zoo brew”) and donates a dollar from every pint they sell to helping restore the zoo.
