U.S. Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons and U.S. Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester partnered to host two job fairs for veterans.

The first took place in Dover on August 20, and 34 employers participated.

“As a 23-year veteran of the Navy and Navy Reserve, I’m proud to once again host a job fair to give back to those who have done so much for our country,” Carper said. “We have a sacred obligation to care for our veterans and their families. These veteran-specific jobs fairs help us fulfill this obligation and provide Delaware’s veterans with the opportunity to meet with employers to discuss civilian careers.”

“Veterans are tested leaders who have learned how to manage people through some of the most difficult situations imaginable,” Coons said. “This job fair connected veterans with employers hiring men and women with those unique skills and leadership experience. Veterans bring extraordinary backgrounds to their civilian careers and would be an asset to any company.”

“Our veterans never hesitated in answering the call to defend our freedoms and protect our citizens. They sacrificed for this country, and they have earned the right to a top education and a good-paying job,” Rochester said.

The next job fair will take place September 7 in Middletown.
