Report: Delaware sees steady growth in women-owned firms

The State of Women-Owned Businesses Report, commissioned by American Express, found that Delaware is in the middle of the pack when it comes to growth in the number, size, and economic impact of women-owned firms.

In a series of rankings looking at growth over the past five years, Delaware came in 16th nationally in the growth of women-owned firms (11.3 percent increase), 9th in the growth of jobs created (7.7 percent increase), and 18th in growth of firm revenues (11.2 percent increase).

The report also found that Delaware has an estimated 29,833 women-owned businesses, employing 30,277 people.

Nationally the report shows that between 2014 and 2019, the number of women-owned businesses climbed 21 percent to nearly 13 million, employment grew by 8 percent to 9.4 million and revenue rose 21 percent to $1.9 trillion.
