Budget Rooter Plumbing & Drain Cleaning

Budget Rooter is a plumbing company that has served New Castle County and surrounding areas for more than 25 years. Its founding mission was to provide quality drain cleaning and plumbing services at the lowest possible price, but that has evolved into a strategy with the tagline “Need a plumber? Get a plumber, not a salesman!” What that means, says the family, is that they don’t want to “sell” services or solutions that customers don’t need, which they believe has resulted in increased trust and growth through word of mouth.

While only four Palady family members actually work for Budget Rooter — Suzanne (board chair), Jeffrey (president and master plumber), Michael (foreman and drain technician), and Jared (laborer), the Paladys say they see each of their employees as “family members.”

Each member of the Palady family must go through the same application process as any other employee — except for the interview process — and they start with the company at the level for which they are qualified. Michael, who had years of drain-cleaning experience, started as a drain-cleaning technician and will get a leadership role when he earns his Master’s license. Jared is attending plumbing school at night and will be promoted to the level of journeyman plumber when he graduates.

The day-to-day business is managed by Jeff and Business Manager Jennifer Conway, who is not a family member. Conway says decisions are made jointly between the two, “with Jeff having the final say in the (rare) event of a disagreement.”
