Minster’s Jewelers today announced plans to close this weekend after 123 years in business. The shop is located in the Newark Shopping Center just off of Main Street.
“It has been our honor and pleasure to serve the community for 123 years, however it is now time for our family to say goodbye and we will close this Saturday July 14,” wrote owner Will Minster in an email announcing the closure.
Minster told the Newark Post that the family-owned business did not have a new generation lined up to take over.
The shop plans to sell off its inventory at 50 percent discounts.
“While we are sad to close, we are at peace that for four generations since my great-grandfather founded the business we have done our best,” Minster wrote.
