About the Program
The HR Awards program honors executives, partners, and companies that have demonstrated a commitment to their employees or clients through leadership, innovation and achievement in Delaware. Through these programs, today’s companies are investing in not only the strength of their business’ future but also the futures of employees and their families. A judging committee of local business leaders selects finalists and winners based on engagement, effectiveness and ROI. Delaware SHRM Chapter shares their inspiring stories in Delaware Business Times and celebrates their success during the Delaware State Human Resource Conference & Expo where the winners will be announced live. Awards will be presented in the following categories:

  • HR Executive of the Year
  • HR Department of the Year
  • HR Innovator
  • HR Emerging Leader
  • Talent Person of the Year
  • HR Champion

HR Executive of the Year
Someone with 8 years or more, who demonstrates outstanding accomplishments in leading HR efforts in their organizations. Must have a demonstrated excellence in supporting and growing HR professionals and businesses.

HR Department of the Year
A team of HR professionals (can include payroll, benefits administrators, training and development professionals, recruiters) that demonstrates outstanding outcomes for its company. Should be driving the strategic people operations efforts and offering programs that achieve outstanding outcomes, reduce cost, and help grow the business and its people.

HR Innovator
Embodies strategic, out-of-the-box thinking. Should have a proven track record of offering forward-thinking solutions that move teams, businesses, and communities forward. This person should exemplify what HR will be in the future.

Emerging Leader
An HR professional who has 8 years or fewer of total HR experience as of the application due date. Should have a proven track record of leading teams, both in their company and in the community – and of offering creative and innovative solutions and being an advocate for the HR profession.

Talent Person of the year
Someone who is involved in talent acquisition or development. Should have a proven track record of assisting businesses to grow and/or to develop their teams. Exemplifies what it means to be conduit for talent acquisition and/or development within the HR and business communities.

HR Champion
Peripheral team colleague, not directly in an HR role, who champions the efforts of HR professionals in their company or in the community. Must have a proven track record of advocating for HR professionals or the profession. Potential qualifiers for this would include; CEOs, CFOs, COOs, Employment Law Attorneys, Benefit Brokers, etc.
