Susan Leath resigns from News Journal

Susan Leath, regional president and publisher of The News Journal, resigned today, according to Delaware Online.

Leath, who was the only female African-American publisher of a general-circulation daily in the U.S. will pursue other opportunities, according to the Gannett website.

Leath spent three years at the News Journal, coming from the Centre Daily Times in State College, Pa. She started her career at in Ocala, Florida in the New York Times Regional Group.

Tom Donovan, regional president of Gannett’s Northeast grip, will lead the News Journal on an interim basis. He is a Lewes native and a University of Delaware graduate who worked at the News Journal early in his career.
